Recent lake monitoring activities identified the North Arm as a serious area of concern. To protect it, the Hayden Lake Watershed Improvement District commissioned an Investigative Committee to review the conditions of the North Arm and make recommendations for improving the long-term sustainability of the overall ecosystem. The committee members represent a wide range of organizations, including the HLWID, stakeholder agencies such as Idaho Fish and Game, USFS, DEQ, HLWA, the Hayden Lake Manager, and several residents of the North Arm.
