Herbicide and Diver Treatments set for Aug 20-25

Idaho State Department of Agriculture will treat designated areas of Hayden Lake for Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) during the week of August 20-25, depending upon weather conditions.

Clean Lakes Inc, ISDA’s contracted applicator, will use ProcellaCOR in areas with sufficiently dense growth. Aquatic Weed Solutions will send a team of divers to manually remove EWM from sparsely populated areas. This mixed strategy represents ISDA’s goal to manage invasive aquatic plants with minimal overall environmental impact, for long-term sustainability.

ProcellaCOR Herbicide Restrictions:

  • Do not irrigate ornamental and broadleaved plants or food-crops until notified. ISDA will collect and test samples 3 days after the application. When the herbicide residue concentration is below two parts per billion (2 ppb), ISDA will lift this restriction. Watch ISDA’s Treatment Plans map for notification.
  • No Drinking Water Restrictions – Residents in treatment areas may continue to draw drinking water from the lake.
  • No Recreation Restrictions – People may continue to swim in treatment areas. Wildlife will not be affected, so fishing in treated areas is allowed.
  • No Turf Irrigation Restrictions – Residents may continue to use lake water to irrigate lawns.

No Restrictions in Diver-Treated Areas

Residents and recreators may drink water, play in, and irrigate from areas where hand-harvesting is taking place. But please keep your eyes open for Aquatic Weed Solutions boats and respect divers’ markers. Keep everyone safe in the water.
