Hayden Lake, ID, May – The Hayden Lake Watershed Improvement District (HLWID) announces the installation of three new buoys near the Sportsman Park boat launch on the north end of Hayden Lake. Permitted by the Idaho Department of Lands, the buoys protect the location of cyanobacterial bloom research to be conducted by the University of Idaho. The new buoys effectively extend the no-wake zone across both northern bays. These will remain in place for the duration of the research project over the next two years.
In addition, the HLWID assisted the city of Hayden Lake in replacing six damaged buoys that protect the shoreline between Honeysuckle and Bervin Bay.
Boaters are cautioned to stay clear of all buoys around the lake for the protection of the shoreline and the safety of recreators, the research personnel, and equipment. Maintain speeds below 5 mph and avoid plowing when approaching or moving through no-wake zones.
